Among all the things that can be said about Deadpool films, their marketing campaigns are truly unconventional. In fact, even the theater displays are a class apart.
The love that The Merc With The Mouth has for unicorns isn’t hidden to anyone familiar with Deadpool. Now a new stand displayed in movie theaters has used this fact in Deadpool 2 promotions. You can check it out below.
It is not surprising to see Deadpool attempting to take his beloved stuffed toy out for a ride, considering all angles. A scene in the original Deadpool film showed Ryan Reynolds engaging in intense eye contact with his toy before he “relieved” himself.
The fictional animal was also seen in the movie’s home video release. A neon pink, Tron style Deadpool riding a full-scale unicorn was initially seen as a part of the deluxe vinyl release by Fox Home Entertainment and Milan Records. Now that cover has been modified for a new DVD currently on sale at retail outlets.
Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that the decision to reintroduce the unicorn by the Deadpool 2 marketing team is bound to reignite that romance. It seems like poor Vanessa needs to come up with fresh tricks to keep her game going in the sequel.
Deadpool 2 is likely to utilize a lot more than only the romance with the unicorns as seen in the first film. The sequel will feature a lot more of mutant menace with the return of X-Men characters such as Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. However, it is also going to go deeper into the comic books by introducing some popular characters.
The initial trailer gave us the first proper look at new characters such as Cable and Domino, two X-Force members with a long-term history with Deadpool in the comics. It is not yet known how these two will impact the new film, but, at least Domino will turn out to be a friend.
A couple of quick shots hinted at the setting up of X-Force comprising of characters like Shatterstar and another unknown mutant played by Terry Crews.
Deadpool 2 is all set to be a must watch movie in the incredible month of May. Now it will be interesting to find out how it lives up to the standards set by the crazily entertaining first Deadpool movie.
Deadpool 2 rides into the theaters on May 18th.
