Disney and Lucasfilm have now announced the dates for digital and Blu-ray/DVD releases of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The digital release will be available in HD, 4K Ultra HD and via the Movies Anywhere app is releasing on March 13. The physical copy will be released on March 27.
The Last Jedi Blu-ray will be packed with special features. The Director and the Jedi is a deep-dive into the BTS with Rian Johnson who will take you through the production of this film, and you will understand what it is like to helm a Star Wars film.
Balance of the Force is set to explore the mythology of the Force and why Johnson had chosen to interpret the role in his unique way.
Lighting the Spark: Creating the Space Battle will be a close-up look at the space battle in The Last Jedi. It will cover sounds, the visual effects, and the characters.
Snoke and Mirrors will walk you through the process of creating the villain and will look at the motion capture process.
Showdown on Crait will be a breakdown of almost everything that had gone into creating the planet featured in this movie’s final battle.
Andy Serkis Live! (One Night Only) will feature Rian Johnson presenting two sequences from The Last Jedi which feature Andy Serkis’ raw performance before the digital makeover.
The physical release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be featuring many scene breakdowns, but the scenes which will be included are yet to be revealed.
The release will include 14 deleted scenes and these scenes included have not been announced yet.
The Last Jedi Blu-ray is set to include an audio commentary by Rian Johnson. The fans who had bought the Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens would have noticed that a J.J. Abrams commentary had been absent and was released later.
With the home video release set for March, it represents a quicker turnaround for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had been released on Blu-ray on April 4, 2017, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on Blu-ray on April 5.
