The record-shattering performance of Black Panther has breached the walls of publishing affiliations, and now Suicide Squad star Will Smith has shared an Instagram post praising the movie, and appreciating the cast and crew for their achievements.
After naming the movie’s stars and director Ryan Coogler, Smith further said”What you have done is spectacular. I watched the film a couple of days ago and damn near got brought to tears. You guys have challenged and potentially even shattered a lot of long-time, long-held, false Hollywood beliefs and paradigms. I just wanna say congratulations to you. I’m proud, I’m excited, damn near gitty. Congrats, ya’ll.”
Smith then concluded his post by crossing both fists over his chest in a gesture similar to the one that the movie’s characters share.
Although the MCU and DCEU stars have indulged in light-hearted rivalry over the years, Smith couldn’t stop himself from praising Black Panther and its fantastic opening weekend performance, which has made it one of the top five opening weekends ever.
Among the most unbelievable achievements of Black Panther is that in just the first four days of its cinematic run, it has gone past the entire domestic earning of Justice League, despite the Justice League featuring Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman as a team for the first time ever.
Smith has a packed schedule with Aladdin and Gemini in the works. Therefore, Suicide Squad is unlikely to start production before this fall. Despite the fact that Black Panther has been a great success, there has not been any announcement of a sequel, but, it seems to be a certainty.
Black Panther is currently running in theaters and it will soon be Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, Ant-Man, and the Wasp on July 6th, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
